About Area Code Box
Area Code Box tells you where an area code or phone number is from: the state or province, the cities it covers, overlay codes and the local time there.
Where the data comes from
Area codes and phone prefixes come from public numbering data, including the North American Numbering Plan and Google’s open-source libphonenumber project (Apache License 2.0). Time zones use the standard IANA time zone database, and local times are worked out in your browser.
What a lookup can and can’t tell you
A number’s area code and prefix show where it was first assigned. People keep their numbers when they move or switch carriers, and internet calling services can give out any area code, so a caller may be somewhere else entirely.
